Roy Hayes Follows Millbridge Dirt Track Win With Third Place In Texas Battle At The Big Top Race

CONCORD, N.C. – Roy Hayes, the oldest of three racing brothers who comprise the driver lineup for North Carolina-based Hayes Motorsports, is seeing some early success in 2016.

After going to victory lane at Millbridge Speedway on the dirt with his mini-outlaw, he hopped back into his legends car on the pavement and picked up a career-best third place finish as the week-long “Battle At The Big Top” got underway at Texas Motor Speedway’s “Little Texas” oval.

For Roy, the third place in the legends car is a sure sign of progress.

“I’m starting to get more and more comfortable in the legends,” he said.  “Running in the Winter Heat at Charlotte and then going to Florida for the Winternationals helped me a lot because I got a lot of seat time to get used to it. We’ve qualified well every night so far.  It was exciting to finish third.  I have to thank Kyle Beattie for all of his setup and coaching help. It’s fun to go race somewhere like (Texas) where you haven’t before and try to adjust.  It helps me more than I realize, probably.”

Roy and his two younger brothers George and Stanley will be doing the “two-surface tango” all year as they’ll run a mix of mini outlaw races on the dirt at Millbridge and their legends and bandolero cars on pavement at tracks all over the southeast and beyond.
